wiki glossary. Good place to look first for definitions.
Death leveling means luring some AI monster (either originally red or one you've annoyed) to a res shrine and letting it kill you over and over. The monster gains experience and goes up in level from killing you. The two big uses of this I know of are creating foes of a high enough level for you to kill and gain experience from (only useful in the presearing area of Tyria where there are no foes higher than level 10 or so,) and getting a tameable animal to evolve on the aggressive path before you charm it (less pet HP, more pet damage.) Originally, the game let you do this death leveling. Then they changed it so that AI foes don't gain xp and therefore don't level-up from killing you. Recently, they changed it back so it does work. (Seemingly to go with the Defender of Ascalon title.) Other than the obvious (dead moa birds, hippos, etc.) I've no idea what else "pet deaths" means. It might depend on the context. For insight into death leveling, you could look into concepts like the Defender of Ascalon title and pet evolution. For exact instructions on how to power-level, you probably need to do a fair bit of digging around. Look for solo builds. I assume power-leveling is most often set up with the leveler killing something on a solo build and the levelee standing far enough away to avoid aggro (and likely death) but close enough to share in the xp from the kills. I've tried it a couple times with friends. To me, it's really boring, and I'd rather just level-up by playing. As to why power leveling is offered in HA, ya got me! Before Factions came out, I remember seeing a lot of trade spam for it in places like Droks when it was common for lower-level players to buy/beg/get a run there for max armor. Hope it helps, Luny Last edited by LicensedLuny; Dec 18, 2006 at 08:56 AM // 08:56.. |

Death Leveling was pretty much explained to you.
Power Leveling has taken some hits recently. Its basically a 2 man thing - 1 low level sits there while a high level owns stuff and it shares exp with the low lvl. They recently tweaked how far away you could be standing to get exp I believe and supposedly took exp out of Guild Scrimmages (a lvl3 would kill his lvl20 friend over and over for exp in matches) |

I am not letting this be known to give players ideas but it seems that a bug has been introduced that may allow low level players to level without fighting. I was recently in Divinity Coast where the guards on top of the wall kill the Scale (might be wrong with the town name but it is the first mission town after Lions Arch). While there I noticed that every time the guards killed something I would get experience points (my character was at lvl 20 so he was getting 0 exp). I knew that a while back that a Necro would gain Energy (useless in a town) while there but no exp. This may be a new way to gain exp for low lvl players to go afk in.

Power leveling also involves experience scrolls. When you pay someone to level you, you will need to supply the XP scrolls you either gather from drops or buy them from the Rare Scroll trader. These increase the experience gained by 1.5-3 times with pre-set conditions such as time length or kill a boss every 5 mins., etc.

There is a nice view there that I sometimes use to take screenshots for making desktop backgrounds of my characters - a few months ago I noticed I had to watch that I didn't capture the +0xp thing. I didn't know if it was new then or I just had never payed any attention before. |

Just thought I would correct myself. The town is Di-Allesio Seaboard (was just there before I came here).
